The Phillies were looking to take down the Giants last night at Citizens Bank Park. Thanks to RBIs from Jimmy Rollins, Marlon Byrd and Chase Utley the Phillies took a 5-4 lead into the top of the ninth inning. Jonathan Papelbon surrendered his first home run of the year to Buster Posey which forced extra innings. The Giants ended up scoring four runs in the 14th inning to win it by a score of 9-6. Toronto Blue Jays are "taking their best shot" at acquiring Utley although the organization does not seem keen on the idea of trading him. Utley controls his own destiny as he can invoke his 10-5 trade rights to block any deal out of Philadelphia if he wants. More here.
Kansas City Royals are interested in acquiring outfielder Marlon Byrd. The interest in Byrd is contingent upon Kansas City actually becoming buyers at the trade deadline which is looking less and less likely as they currently sit at 48-50. More here.
