The Phillies were in New York taking on the Mets last night. A.J. Burnett was hit around pretty god for seven runs on eight hits in just five innings of work. Former-Phillies prospect Travis D'Arnaud had a great game going 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, two doubles and two runs scored as the Mets rolled to an easy 7-1 victory. More here.
Fox Sports' Jon Morosi reports the Phillies have made staff ace Cole Hamels available in a trade but the price is high. Morosi added the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers are the two teams with the best chance to acquire Hamels. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman quoted one rival general managaer saying, "[The Phillies] want the world [in exchange for Hamels]." More here.
The Phillies are one of three teams, along with the Yankees and Red Sox, to schedule private workouts with Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo. Philadelphia is slated to workout Castillo tomorrow. The Phillies reportedly had "one of the largest scouting contingents" at his showcase last week. More here.
Minnesota Timberwolves are looking at Sixers forward Thaddeus Young as a replacement for power forward Kevin Love, who is expected to be traded before the season begins. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors are the three teams believed to be the most serious about acquiring Love. The Timberwolves' move for Young could be part of a three-team Love trade or a separate deal involving the Sixers. More here.
