The Phillies opened their series with the Marlins last night. Marlon Byrd had another big night for the Phillies going deep in the eighth inning en route to going 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two runs scored. Cody Asche followed up Byrd's home run with a home run of his own to tie the game and force extra innings. Ed Lucas drove in the game-winning run for the Marlins in the 11th inning on his single to right field that scored Jeff Baker to win it 5-4. More here.
The Flyers announced on Tuesday they have re-signed goaltender Ray Emery to a one-year, $1 million deal. He spent last year splitting time with Steve Mason in net for the Flyers after spending the previous two seasons in Chicago. More here.
There is increasing concern among the Flyers front office that they will not be able to move Vinny Lecavalier's contract which has four years remaining with a $4.5 million cap hit. There was a report Monday night the Nashville Predators would be willing to take Lecavalier after his $2 million bonus hit yesterday. More here.
