The Phillies were looking to bounce back last night in New York with Cole Hamels on the mound. Hamels has struggled in his career against the Mets but last night he was dominant. Hamels threw eight shutout innings allowing just six hits and no walks. Chase Utley hit his first grand slam since 2010 while Jimmy Rollins and Grady Sizemore both added solo shots as the Phillies won 6-0. More here.
Phillies are telling other teams Burnett plans to retire at the end of the season so next year's option is not going to be an issue. Even Burnett himself has told his teammates he plans to retire at the end of the season. More here.
