The Phillies have certainly had injury issues this year and it went from bad to worse yesterday. With starting catcher Carlos Ruiz already on the disabled list, the Phillies found out that backup catcher Erik Kratz's MRI reveal that the 33 year old catcher has a torn meniscus. Kratz's knee will require surgery. There is no time table for his return; that will be determined once the surgery is completed. Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, has found himself in hot water with the law again. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail for a probation violation after he did not meet with his probation officer the past three months. Johnson was on probation for headbutting his former wife, Evelyn Lozada. Johnson had a plea deal for community service when he playfully slapped his lawyer on the backside. The judge did not take kindly to Johnson's antics and he was quickly hauled off to jail. More here.
The Kobe Bryant memorabilia auctioning saga came to a close yesterday as the All-Star's parents apologized for auctioning off his memorabilia without his permission. The Lakers guard allowed less than 10 percent of what originally had been auctioned to be auctioned by his parents. The deal was reached one week before it was supposed to go to court in New jersey. The Bryant's were trying to auction off more than $500,000 worth of their son's merchandise. More here.
