Phillies have released 2008 first-round pick outfielder Anthony Hewitt. The move comes one week after the five-year anniversary of his selection on June 5th, 2008 out of the Salisbury School in Connecticut. He batted .223/.264/.370 with 63 home runs and 252 RBIs in seven seasons but, perhaps the most concerning number, is his 763 strikeouts in 2,309 minor league at-bats. More here.
