The Phillies wrapped up their three game series with the Twins last night in Minnesota with Cliff Lee on the mound. Lee was spectacular as the Phillies needed him to stop their five game losing streak. Lee went seven innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out six. The Phillies were trailing 2-1 after seven innings but got two runs in the top half of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead. The bullpen would hold tight as Mike Adams and Jonathan Papelbon closed the game in the eighth and ninth innings. More here.
The Miami Heat were looking to avoid falling in a 3-1 hole last night as they took on the Spurs in San Antonio in Game 4. It was another tough game between Miami and San Antonio last night as Miami outscored the Spurs 29-26 in the first quarter but the Spurs responded by outscoring the Heat 23-20 in the second quarter to tie the game at halftime. The Heat took over in the second half behind their "big three." LeBron James had 30 points and 10 rebounds, Dwayne Wade had 32 points while Chris Bosh had 20 points and 13 rebounds. It was a rainy first round of the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club yesterday. Play was suspended at 8:30 am due to strong thunderstorms in the area then suspended again at 5:15 pm before resuming at 5:55 pm. More rain is in the forecast for today's round. Phil Mickelson leads all players through 18 holes shooting a 3-under while Luke Donald sits at 4-under through 13 holes. Round one will conclude today as round two begins. More here.
