Game Seven is one of the most entertaining things in all of sports. Last night, the Spurs and Heat squared off in Game Seven of the NBA Finals with LeBron James and Miami looking to take home their second consecutive NBA Championship. It was a tight one all the way up until the end. The Spurs trailed by two at halftime and by one entering the fourth quarter but could not get that one clutch possession to take the lead. LeBron James had 37 points and 12 rebounds as he led Miami to a 95-88 victory and their second consecutive title. James took home his second consecutive NBA Finals MVP award. More here.
The Flyers parted ways with one of their longest tenured players yesterday as general manager Paul Holmgren announced that the team will use one of its two compliance buyouts on the 35 year old center. Last season, Briere dealt with injuries as he only scored six times and put up 16 total points in the lockout shortened season. He spent more time with the Flyers (six full seasons) than any other team in his professional career and was a fan favorite during his time in Philadelphia. More here.
Loyalty pays off. Look no further than State College, Pa as Penn State has given head football coach Bill O'Brien a $1 million raise taking place on July 1st. He led the team to an 8-4 (6-2 in Big Ten) record this season. The eight wins were the most ever for a first year coach in the program's 126 year history. He won the 2012 Big Ten Coach of the Year award along with the 2012 Maxwell Football Club, ESPN, and Bear Bryant Coach of the Year awards all while dealing with the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky sex-scandal.
