The Phillies jumped out to a three-run lead in the second inning when Cody Asche hit a bases clearing double with the bases loaded. The Cardinals got four in the fourth inning behind Jhonny Peralta's two-run single. St. Louis would add an insurance run in the sixth en route to a 5-3 victory.
The United States Men's National Team was taking out Portugal yesterday in Brazil. Brazil got on the board early with a goal from Nani in the fifth minute. The United States responded in the second half behind a beautiful shot from Jermaine Jones in the 64th minute. Clint Dempsey would put the U.S. up 2-1 in the 81st minute when he used his chest to put home Graham Zusi's pass. In the fifth minute of stoppage time with under 20 seconds remaining in the game, Cristiano Ronaldo's crossing pass found the head of Carela who beat Tim Howard to force a 2-2 draw.
