The Phillies were looking to bounce back after four straight loss last night against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals. Straburg threw seven innings allowing just four runs (two earned) and also went 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Anthony Rendon had a fabulous game going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. It was his second consecutive game with a home run as Washington cruised to an 8-4 victory. More here.
The Flyers announced on Wednesday they have reached a two-year affiliation agreement with the Reading Royals of the ECHL. It marks the first ECHL agreement the Flyers have reached since the Trenton Titans ceased operations following the 2012-13 season. The Royals had previously been affiliated with the Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings. More here.
Darin Ruf was sent down to Triple-A Lehigh Valley over the weekend to make room for some extra bullpen arms. Ruf was injured on Tuesday night while trying to to run down a fly ball in foul territory. Ruf suffered a sprained left wrist and a cut on his right knee that required stitches. He is believed to be headed for the disabled list. More here.
