The Flyers were in Pittsburgh looking to take the second half of their home-and-home with the Penguins. The Flyers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after a Brayden Schenn goal just 2:06 into the first period. Philadelphia took a 3-0 lead after a pair of Wayne Simmonds power play goals. Phillies' Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt has been dealing with "an advanced form of skin cancer." The 64-year-old has stage 3 melanoma and under went two operations along with chemotherapy and radiation treatment but said he feels "fantastic" now. More here.
The St. Joe's Hawks won their first Atlantic 10 Championship since 1997 yesterday with a 65-61 victory over the VCU Rams.
