The Flyers were in action last night in Tampa with a crucial couple of points on the line. The game did not get off to the start that they would have liked. Ondrej Palat got his second goal of the year six and a half minutes into the game to give Tampa the 1-0 lead. Max Talbot made a gorgeous move on the Lightning defense and beat Anders Lindback on a gorgeous backhand shot to tie the game for the Flyers with six minutes remaining in the period. Tom Pyatt capitalized on a Luke Schenn defensive breakdown three minutes later to put Tampa up 2-1. The Flyers hit two posts in the first period that would’ve swung the game. After an onslaught in the second period, Claude Giroux sniped a goal with under four minutes to go to tie the game at two. The third period did not go the Flyers way as Teddy Purcell tipped home the go ahead goal. Steven Stamkos would add an empty netter to ice the game 4-2. More here.

Sixers fans finally got the official news they’ve been expecting for months. Andrew Bynum will not play for the 76ers this season and, since his contract is up at the end of the season, there is a chance he will never play a second for the Sixers. Bynum will undergo surgery today on both knees to remove any “loose bodies” that are causing swelling and pain. The surgery will be done at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York by Dr. David Altchek. More here.
