The Phillies were in Cleveland last night in the first game of a two game set with the Indians. Roy Halladay took the mound and got rocked. Halladay allowed eight runs on nine hits while striking out three and allowing three home runs. He exited the game trailing 8-1. The Phillies got two runs on a solo home run from both Delmon Young and Chase Utley. The Indians would belt seven total homeruns to go on to rout the Phillies 14-2. The Los Angeles Clippers have been pushed to the brink of elimination and, as if that wasn't bad enough, they lost all-star forward Blake Griffin in the process. Griffin went down in the thrid quart with an ankle injury in Game 5 in Los Angeles. The Grizzlies capitalized on the loss of Griffin as Zach Randolph put up 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help fuel the Grizzlies to a 103-93 victory. Chris Paul had 35 points in the losing effort. Griffin is day-to-day with Game 6 coming Friday night. The Grizzlies have won three straight games after the Clippers took the first two games of the series. More here.
The Atlanta Braves were looking to get Tim Hudson his 200th win of his career last night as they took on the Washington Nationals. The Braves offense did its part by jumping out to a 5-0 lead through four innings and that is all they would need. Hudson would go seven innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six Nationals. The Braves went on to win 8-1 and opened their lead to 4.5 games in the NL East. More here.
