One of the most versatile pieces added in Chip Kelly's first offseason with the Eagles will be out for a while. Tight end/full back James Casey, who signed with the Eagles after spending last year with the Houston Texans, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this week. He will miss the rest of spring workouts but is expected to return in time for training camp. Casey, 28, caught 34 balls for 330 yards and three touchdowns last season in Houston. He was primarily used as a tight end but also was used as a fullback. More here.
The NBA announced their All-NBA teams. First team All-NBA features Miami's LeBron James, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Clippers' guard Chris Paul, Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant, and San Antonio's Tim Duncan. Duncan becomes the third oldest player to be voted to the All-NBA first team. The second team consisted of Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker, Marc Gasol, and Blake Griffin. The third team was James Harden, Dwayne Wade, David Lee, Paul George, and Dwight Howard. More here.
The San Francisco 49ers offense was delivered a major blow on Tuesday when wide receiver Michael Crabtree went down with a torn Achilles tendon. Crabtree had successful surgery on Wednesday to repair the tendon. Head coach Jim Harbaugh announced yesterday that he does not anticipate the injury being season-ending for Crabtree. The 49ers are looking towards Ravens LB Terrell Suggs and Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers as two examples of players who tore their Achilles tendons last year and returned to play during the 2012 regular season.
