The Phillies wrapped up their miserable two game series in Cleveland last night. Ryan Raburn, after going 3-for-4 with two homeruns and 3 RBI on Tuesday night, went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI last night. Cliff Lee went six innings allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits while striking out four. The Phillies offense could not get anything started against rookie righthander Trevor Bauer who went five innings allowing no runs on just one hit. The Indians would put up 6 runs and shutdown the Phillies to win 6-0. They outscored the Phillies 20-2 in the two game series. More here.
The Boston Celtics were looking to avoid elimination again last night as they took on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in Game 5. Kevin Garnett had a monster game for the Celtics as he had 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Knicks leading scorer Carmelo Anthony had a relatively quiet night with 22 points of his own. The Knicks cut into the Celtics lead in the fourth quarter but 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions by Jeff Green set the Celtics up for their 92-86 victory. More here.
The Pittsburgh Penguins kicked off their first round series against the New York Islanders last night without superstar Sidney Crosby. They didn't seem to be lacking any fire power as Beau Bennett and Pascal DuPuis scored in the first period to give Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead after the first period. Kris Letang and DuPuis both scored within the first 1:51 of the second period en route to their 5-0 Game 1 victory. More here.
