The Phillies opened their series with the Blue Jays last night with Kyle Kendrick on the mound. Kendrick didn't have a bad game but the Phillies offense did. Marlon Byrd went 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple but was thrown out at home by Jose Bautista. Jose Reyes went 1-for-4 with a walk and a lead-off home run for the Blue Jays and that is all they would need as they would go on to win 3-0. More here.
The NBA has announced Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams has been named the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year. Carter-Williams won the NBA Rookie of the Month a franchise-record four times this season leaving December and February as the only months he didn't win the award. More here.
The Eagles announced on Monday they have signed defensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva. What makes Villanueva standout, and it isn't his 6'9", 277 lbs. frame, it is that he is a U.S. Army Ranger and has been in active duty for four years which included three tours of duty in Afghanistan. More here.
The NHL has announced Flyers captain Claude Giroux has been named one of three finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award as the most outstanding players as voted on by the Players Association.. The other two finalists are Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf. More here.
