The Eagles were looking to move to .500 yesterday as they took on the Green Bay Packers are Lambeau Field. The Eagles got on the board in the first quarter on a 55-yard touchdown that hit off two Green Bay defenders and into the arms of DeSean Jackson who waltzed into the endzone. Nick Foles was 12-for-18 (66.7%) for 228 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Riley Cooper caught the other two touchdowns as the defense came up big for the Eagles to lead them to a 27-13 victory over the Packers. More here.
Texans fans, and fantasy owners, are cringing this morning as runningback Arian Foster's season is over after he will have season-ending surgery to repair a bulging disc in his back. He will have surgery on Thursday which leaves a big hole in the Houston backfield. More here.
The BCS Standings have been released. Alabama retains the top spot with their big 38-17 victory over No. 13 LSU. Florida State is the No. 2 team after their 59-3 trouncing of Wake Forest on Saturday. Ohio State, Stanford, and Baylor round out the top five. Full Standings here.
Around the NFC East:
The Raiders were looking to shake-off their embarrassing loss to the Eagles last Sunday as they visited the Giants. Eli Manning was 12-for-22 for 144 yards, one touchdown, and an interception that Oakland returned for a touchdown. The Giants still got enough from their defense as they went on to beat Oakland 24-20. More here.
The Cowboys visited the Saints on Sunday Night Football last night looking for a win to remain one game up on the Eagles for first place in the NFC East. Unfortunately for Dallas, Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints were dominant putting up 625 total yards compared to 193 for the Cowboys. New Orleans also set an NFL record with 40 first downs en route to a 49-17 win. More here.
The Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings clashed on Thursday Night Football. Washington held a 24-14 lead at halftime and got it to 27-14 in the third quarter but Minnesota wouldn't go away at home. Two touchdowns and a pair of Blair Walsh field goals later gave the Vikings a 34-27 lead and eventually the win to drop the Redskins to 3-6 on the year. More here.
