The Flyers were in Ottawa last night taking on the Penguins. The Flyers got on the board in the first on a Matt Read goal. Jake Voracek scored two goals in the second period with his second goal being one of the prettier goals you're going to see on a no-look pass from Wayne Simmonds. Vinny Lecavalier blasted a slap shot by Craig Anderson eight minutes into the third period to put the Flyers up 4-0. Brayden Schenn redirected a Lecavalier slap shot five and a half minutes later to make it a 5-0 lead and that's how the Flyers would win it. More here.
Yesterday the Phillies signed free-agent outfielder Marlon Byrd to a two-year deal. Byrd, 36, had arguably his best season as a professional last year split between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates batting .291/.336/.511 with 22 home runs and 88 RBIs. More here.
The Eagles signed kick returner/wide receiver Brad Smith to give the team some versatility. He can play wide receiver, quarterback, and returns kicks. Smith likely serves as an upgrade in the return game over Demaris Johnson. More here.
