The Flyers were in Pittsburgh last night taking on the Penguins in a division battle. The Flyers got on the board in the first period after Wayne Simmonds battled two Penguins for a puck in the corner then found Brayden Schenn in the slot who beat Marc-Andre Fleury. The Penguins tied it eight and a half minutes into the second period when Evgeni Malkin found Sidney Crosby all alone in front as Crosby beat Ray Emery on the power play. Ten minutes later, Jake Voracek's shot from the point hit Steve Downie then the post. Schenn cleaned it up and beat Fleruy for his second of the game and the game winner. Flyers went on to win 2-1. The Sixers welcomed the Houston Rockets to the Wells Fargo Center last night. The Sixers used a strong fourth quarter outscoring Houston 26-16 to force overtime after Hthe Rockets dominated the third quarter outscoring the 76ers 33-20. James Anderson had his best game with the 76ers scoring a career-high 36 points including the game-tying three with 6.6 seconds left to force overtime. Major League Baseball announced two more awards yesterday as the National League and American League Cy Youngs were awarded. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw won his second Cy Young in three years after he went 16-9 with a 1.83 ERA, the lowest in 13 years. He now owns two Cy Young awards at the age of 25. The Tigers won their second Cy Young in three years when Max Scherzer took home the AL Cy Young after his 21-3 season where he posted a 2.90 ERA. More here.
