The Eagles are in a complete freefall. Yesterday the Eagles went down to Landover, Maryland to face off against division rival Washington and their upstart offensive play behind rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Eagles were mauled. RGIII went 14-for-15 for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Under Todd Bowles, the Eagles have allowed all four quarterbacks they have faced to complete 70% or more of their passes (93% for RGIII) and 2 touchdowns or more and no interceptions. The Sixers were in action last night at the Wells Fargo Center taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Evan Turner led Philadelphia with 19 points and nine assists in 40 minutes. Jrue Holiday, who has been an early season leader for the Sixers, pitched in 14 points and nine assists. They held former Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving to nine points, four points, and five turnovers. They get back at it tomorrow night at the Wells Fargo Center against the Toronto Raptors. More here.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the Number 1 team in the country. With losses by former #1 Kansas State and #2 Oregon, the Irish have moved up into #1 in the BCS standings. They have one game left in the regular season against USC on Saturday but USC will be without star quarterback Matt Barkley, who has a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. More here.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens faced off on Sunday Night Football’s game of the week. In a defensive battle, the Steelers were without Ben Roethlisberger. Trailing 7-3, the Ravens’ Jacoby Jones went back to receive a punt and took it to the house to give the Ravens a 10-7 lead. The Ravens would be able to get their lead to 13-7 and hold on to a 13-10 win. The loss drops the Steelers to 6-4 and moves the Ravens to 8-2. One of the Ravens two losses came at the hands of the hapless Eagles. More here.
