The Flyers were looking to extend their point streak to eight games last night as they visited the Florida Panthers. After a scoreless first period, Sean Bergenheim got the Panthers on the board with a wraparound shot after a relentless series of shots on Steve Mason. With the Flyers on their heels for a large portion of the second period, Bergenheim scored again on the power play to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Wayne Simmonds would cut it to 2-1 but Florida added an insurance goal for a 3-1 victory. More here.
The San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins clashed on Monday Night Football. Colin Kaepernick snapped out of his funk to the tune of 235 yards through the air, three touchdown passes, and no interceptions. Robert Griffin III continued to struggle with just 127 passing yards and an interception as the 49ers rolled on Washington 27-6. More here.
The Bulls have been without Derrick Rose for the large portion of the last 18 months. It is going to be even longer now. The Chicago point guard and former NBA MVP will miss the remainder of this season after under going knee surgery on Monday to repair the medial meniscus in his right knee. Rose missed the most of the 2012 playoffs and the entire 2012-13 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee. More here.
