The Sixers welcomed the Dallas Mavericks to town to close out a stretch in which they played eight of nine games at the Wells Fargo Center. The Mavericks were paced by 20 points from center Chris Kaman and former Sixer Elton Brand chipped in 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Sixers had three scorers who scored 18 points or more led by Evan Turner’s 22 points. Leading by two heading into the fourth quarter, the Sixers took control of the game. It was a rough day for Philadelphia sports fans yesterday. Major League Baseball dropped the hammer on a beloved Philadelphia Phillie. Phillies All-Star catcher Carlos Ruiz has been suspended 25 for testing positive for amphetamines. Reports are that Ruiz was taking Adderall but it was his second positive test which warrants a suspension. More here.
Yesterday the Eagles finally made a move on defense. They released 32 year old defensive end Jason Babin. The move sent a wave of joy throughout the Eagles fan base as Babin went from fan favorite last year to scapegoat this year. Babin famously preached about loyalty to Eagles fans which did not sit well. More here.
Michael Vick is preparing to play again this season which concerns some Eagles fans. Vick was fitted for a prototype helmet that adds extra padding. This points to Vick potentially playing again during this hopeless season. More here.
