The first major free agent centerfielder has signed and he is coming to the NL East. Former Tampa Bay Rays first round pick B.J. Upton picked the Atlanta Braves over the Phillies and numerous other teams. Upton signed a five year, $75.25 million deal with Atlanta. Upton’s contract is the largest free agent contract ever given out by the Braves. More here.
There was a report yesterday that LSU head football coach Les Miles had a lucrative offer on the table to take over as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. LSU stepped up in a big way offering him a contract extension that keeps him as head coach of the Tigers through 2019. More here.
There was a marque matchup last night in college basketball as #2 Duke took on #4 Ohio State at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Buckeyes jumped out and and took a eight point lead at halftime leading 31-23. Duke took control of the second half using the three ball. With just under five minutes remaining they took the lead for good. Blue Devils forward Mason Plumlee scored 21 points and added 17 rebounds all while breaking the all-time Duke record for dunks in a career. Duke went on to win 73-68. More here.
