The Flyers were looking to break out of their offensive slump against Martin Brodeur and the Devils last night but had no such luck. Adam Henrique netted the game-winner for the Devils just 1:57 into the first period. Cam Janssen got his first of the season 3:01 into the third for an insurance goal. The Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings clashed on Thursday Night Football. Washington held a 24-14 lead at halftime and got it to 27-14 in the third quarter but Minnesota wouldn't go away at home. Two touchdowns and a pair of Blair Walsh field goals later gave the Vikings a 34-27 lead and eventually the win to drop the Redskins to 3-6 on the year. More here.
No. 5 Stanford faced off against No. 3 Oregon in a big time BCS battle last night in Palo Alto. Stanford held a commanding 23-0 lead after three quarters. It was 26-7 with just over five minutes left when Oregon blocked a field goal and took it to the house. They failed on the two-point conversion due to a penalty and it was 26-13. They recovered the onsides kick and drove down for another touchdown with just over two minutes remaining to make it 26-20. Luckily for Stanford they recovered the next onsides kick and held on to the 26-20 upset win. More here.
