The A's and Tigers met in a series-deciding Game 5 last night in Oakland. Unfortunately for the A's, Detroit sent ace Justin Verlander to the mound and he dazzled. Verlander has a perfect game through five innings and a no-hitter into the seventh. He threw eight shutout innings allowing just two hits and striking out 10. A Miguel Cabrera two-run home run in the fourth is all the Tigers needed as they went on to advance to the ALCS with a 3-0 victory. More here.
The Chicago Bears faced off against the 0-6 New York Giants last night. Eli Manning had a rough night going 14-for-26 (53.8%) for 239 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. One of Manning's picks was taken back for a touchdown in the first quarter. Chicago got two touchdowns from Brandon Marshall and rolled to a 27-21 victory. More here.
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado suffered a scary knee injury in the final week of the season which had many wondering how he would go about getting healthy in time for the season. Machado has elected to have surgery on his knee and he has a four-to-six month recovery. More here.
