There was only one pro game last night and that was the NFL’s Thursday night game which featured the Arizona Cardinals in St. Louis battling the Rams. The Rams absolutely annihilated Kevin Kolb last night as Kolb seemed to get hit on nearly every drop back. Overall, the Rams sacked Kolb nine times. Rams QB Sam Bradford needed just seven completions and 141 yards to lead the Rams to a 17-3 victory and hand the Cardinals their first loss of the season. More here.
The Red Sox season ended on Wednesday night as they went 69-93 and finished in last place in the AL East. It was their worst winning percentage since 1965 after having one of the most epic collapses in sports history last September. After firing Terry Francona and hiring Bobby Valentine in the offseason, the Red Sox are, once again, looking for a new manager. The Red Sox fired Valentine yesterday after one tumultuous season in which he called out a fan favorite, threatened to punch a radio personality, and said that his coaches undermined him over the course of the season. Blue Jays manager John Farrell is the leading candidate at the moment. More here.
The USC Trojans were in action last night against Utah in a Pac-12 matchup. After falling behind 21-10 to the Utes, Heisman Trophy candidate Matt Barkley led the Trojans to 28 unanswered points to take a 38-21 lead. Utah would get another touchdown but it would be too little too late. #13 USC survived a scare and face the Washington Huskies next week. More here.
