Yesterday's Scores: Braves 8, Phillies 1
Today's Schedule: Cubs @ Phillies - 7:05 PM (CSN / 1210 WPHT, 94 WIP), Steelers @ Patriots - 8:30 PM (NBC)
PHILS FALL TO BRAVES 8-1, GIVE UP 18 HITS TO BRAVES
The only ones that probably enjoyed Atlanta's (56-84) dominant win over the Phillies (54-86) were the Brave fans and the dogs that enjoyed Bark at the Park. Because there wasn't really anything to enjoy from the game. Michael Bourn got four hits and two RBIs on the night as the game's top performer. Julio Tehran went seven innings and struck out four on four hits and a run. David Buchanan's return was not good, as he gave up four runs on 10 hits in three-and-a-third. Cody Asche got the Phils only RBI on the night. The loss also officially knocked the Phillies out of playoff contention, like they were really going to contend for a playoff spot this year.
They begin a four game series tonight against the Chicago Cubs. Adam Morgan (5-5, 4.42 ERA) will square off against NL Cy Young candidate Jake Arrieta (18-6, 2.03 ERA). (RECAP)
ALL EAGLES PRACTICED, DENNIS KELLY SIGNS A 1-YEAR EXTENSION
Zach Ertz, Marcus Smith, and Cody Parkey all returned to practice on Wednesday. Ertz didn't look 100% at practice and is expected to be a game-time decision Monday. Smith said that he expected to be eased in to practice Wednesday. Parkey was fine and hung out during the media field goal challenge:
VINNY CURRY PLAYING OLB AND DE
Head coach Chip Kelly said at his press conference Tuesday that Vinny Curry was out as an outside linebacker "full-time now," but also noted that he will still play some defensive end. He should feel comfortable with the playbook, entering his third year (fourth overall) in the Chip Kelly system. He was a force on the line last year, leading the team in sacks with nine sacks. CLAUDE GIROUX CAN MODEL
He's one good looking hockey player:
Joe's Steak + Soda Shop, formerly known as Chink's, announced a new item on their menu called the Pretzel Cheesesteak. It's like a regular cheesesteak, except you now have a soft pretzel baked bun as the bread and not a hoagie roll. It looks good, no doubt about that, but is it really a cheesesteak? Take a look and decide for yourself. Plus, leave a comment below; we'll post our best (if we have some votes) up either Friday or Monday:
SHADY MCCOY NEEDS TO SHUT UP
The former Eagle turned Bills RB said that DeMarco Murray isn't among the league's best running backs in a GQ interview. The week of December 6 cannot come quicker, because my guess is he'll provide a ton of rants for that week leading to the Bills-Eagles game. But maybe focus on getting ready for Week 1. (BOO HOO RANT)
DESEAN SOUNDS LIKE HE DOESN'T LIKE WASHINGTON
In another interview with GQ, yes they might get every ex-Eagle by the end of the week at this rate, Redskins WR DeSean Jackson said that he isn't so sure if Washington can compete in 2015. Odds are you won't because your QB that you got for a huge load is now your backup and is ending up to be one of the biggest busts in NFL history, and Kirk Cousins is your starter. Good luck with your season bud, and remember, you were the one who signed with them. (REPORT)
TIM TEBOW DIDN'T HAVE TROUBLE FINDING A NEW JOB
Another former Eagle is in the news with getting a new job, mainly because he's back at his old one before he left to join Philly. Tebow will resume his role as an analyst for the SEC Network, owned by ESPN who really really loves Tebow. He will make his return this Saturday on SEC Nation at 10 AM. (REPORT)
TWO YEARS AFTER BRUNO MARS PERFORM AT HALFTIME, WE MIGHT SEE IT AGAIN
Why can't the NFL get somebody else fresh and new and different to do this? His performance was the most-watched halftime show ever, but there's a ton more acts out there that the NFL could do. But I'm guessing it's all about the money, and it looks like he'll bring in a ton of it. But there's also this...
Director of media events for the NFL Sarah Moll talked to Billboard in December last year about booking the Super Bowl halftime special. She said then that the initial conversation to book Mars for Super Bowl XLVIII got going because she was a "huge fan" of his. "Myself and our producer, Ricky Kirshner, were both personal fans of Bruno and had seen him in concert and knew what he could do," she said. "And it was a lot of just telling folks here and getting folks excited about Bruno and taking them to shows and letting them see what he could do. And that's kind of what got it going."
DONALD TRUMP IS THE SPOKESMAN FOR MEXICO AGAINST THE UNITED STATES
It's so good yet so bad because Trump now seems like he'll be cheering on Mexico even though he hates the country (probably) and illegal immigrants.
Apple announced their new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus models Wednesday which are literally the iPhone 6 and 6 plus except with 3D touch, a better processor, and a better camera. The new iPad, called the iPad Pro, has a 12.9" screen and is geared more towards professionals. They're also selling a smart keyboard and a STYLUS, but they don't you calling it that. It's called the Apple Pencil. Also, a siri enabled Apple TV. Not very impressive for me. (REPORT)
RONDA ROUSEY TO STAR IN 'ROAD HOUSE' REBOOT
She'll be playing Patrick Swayze's roll as a bar bouncer who proves himself as a skilled fighter. I hope she beats up Bethe Correia as well! (REPORT)
