The Eagles were looking to move to 2-0 under Chip Kelly yesterday when they opened up their home schedule against the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately Chargers' QB Philip Rivers had other ideas. Rivers was 36-for-47 (76.6%) for 419 yards and three touchdowns without turning the ball over. All three of his touchdown catches went to under-sized receiver Eddie Royal. QB Michael Vick was 24-for-37 (64.8%) for a career-high 428 yards two touchdowns and no turnovers. The Eagles went on to lose 33-30 on a last second field goal. More here.
The Phillies wrapped up a three game series with the Washington Nationals yesterday afternoon. The Nationals got a huge game from their catcher. Wilson Ramos went 4-for-4 on the day while going 3-for-3 with runners in scoring position. He hit his 15th home run of the year and also scored another run. Ramos had a team-high five RBIs on the day before being taken out for a pinch-runner as Washington went on to win 11-2. More here.
Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo was hit by Maple Leafs forward Jamie Devane and was pretty shaken up following it last night in London, Ontario. The 23 year-old did not return and Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced that Rinaldo was day-to-day with an "upper-body injury." More here.
