The Phillies opened a three game series with the Marlins on Monday night and Cliff Lee was on his game. Lee pitch eight strong innings allowing just two runs on eight hits with an incredible 14 strikeouts. At the plate he might've been even more impressive. Lee went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and he tied with Chase Utley for a team-high four RBIs. The Phillies went on to win 12-2. More here.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals squared off on Monday Night Football as both tried to avoid moving to 0-2. The Bengals got some production from rookie speedster Giovani Bernard who had a seven-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter to put the Bengals up 7-3 then gave them a 17-10 lead in the third on a 27-yard receiving touchdown. The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals were set to meet up Monday night in D.C. but the game was postponed due to the horrific shooting at the Navy Yard which is down the street. The Nationals will host a day/night doubleheader today. More here.
