The Phillies closed out their series with the Miami Marlins last night with Cole Hamels on the mound. Phillies starter Cole Hamels went six innings allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts in his final start of the season. Hamels is the first Phillies pitcher since Curt Schilling in 1998 to lose 14 games in a season. Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria went 1-for-4 with three RBIs including the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth as the Marlins won 3-2. More here.
The Sixers have signed another undrafted free agent. The 76ers have signed former-Minnesota Golden Gopher Rodney Williams to a partially-guaranteed, multi-year contract. The 6'7", 205 lbs. forward surprisingly went undrafted in June's draft. He played well in Orlando for the Sixers Summer League team averaging 8.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. More here.
Former Eagles DE Hugh Douglas was involved in a domestic violence incident at a Connecticut hotel in which he reportedly choked a woman and “slammed her into the wall several times.” Douglas is being charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault. More here.
