The Phillies wrapped up their three game set with the Washington Nationals last night with Roy Halladay taking the mound. Unfortunately Nationals All-Star Jordan Zimmermann was on top of his game. He allowed a two-run double to Cesar Hernandez in the second inning and proceeded to shut down the Phillies for the next five innings on his way to his 16th win of the year. The situation keeps getting worse and worse for former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez, who has been charged with first-degree murder in the homicide of Odin Lloyd, has been connected to a July 2012 murder in Boston in recent weeks. Video has surfaced of Hernandez at the same club as the victims hours before they were killed. A car matching the description of a vehicle of interest in the case has been found in Hernandez's possession. More here.
Staying in New England, the Boston Red Sox put on an offensive clinic last night at Fenway. They scored a run in seven of the eight innings last night and holding a 5-4 lead entering the bottom of the sixth, the Sox went off for eight runs in the sixth and five in the seventh. They would hit eight home runs as a team to pound the Tigers 20-4. More here.
