The AL East race got even hotter last night. The Yankees and Orioles kicked off a four game series in Baltimore last night with the Yankees in first place by one game. Orioles fans came out in bunches as they packed nearly 47,000 people in for last night’s game. The Orioles jumped out to a 6-1 lead only to watch it slip away as the Yankees scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning. The Orioles responded immediately in the bottom half of the 8th inning as Adam Jones hit his 28th homerun of the season to put the Orioles up 7-6. It was his 18th go-ahead or game-tying homerun of the season which leads the Majors. Mark Reynolds went deep again to put the Orioles up 9-6 and they would hold on to win by that margin. The Orioles and Yankees are tied for 1st place in the AL East with 25 games to play. More here.
