According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Joeckel will forego his senior season at College Station to enter the 2013 NFL Draft. The Outland Trophy winner (best lineman) protected Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel’s blindside. Smith writes,
“He’s widely regarded as the best offensive tackle in this year’s draft, and some view him as the best player at any position.”
This makes sense as Fox Sports NFL analyst matt Mosley tweeted earlier today,
“I just had a longtime NFC scout tell me it wouldn't shock him if Ags [sic] OT Luke Joeckel went first overall in the draft.”
Joeckel stands at 6’6” and 310 lbs. He is a monster pillar on any offensive line and would certainly look good on the Eagles line. We all know that Andy Reid has an affinity for selecting linemen in the first round (Danny Watkins, Shawn Andrews, etc.) so it would not be a stretch to think that Joeckel is in play to go first overall to the Chiefs. If he falls to No. 4, it looks like he would be a great find for the Eagles.
