No. 10 will kick us off...
No. 10 - Jimmy Rollins 200th Home Run
The Phillies opened their 2014 season in Texas and jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Rangers. In the top of the second inning with the bases loaded and two outs, shortstop Jimmy Rollins ripped a 1-0 pitch into the right field seats for a grand slam and his 200th career home run. The Phillies went on to win the opener 14-10 in a wild Texas shootout.
No. 9 - Brignac, Phillies Beat Mets in 14 Innings
The Phillies and Mets battled in an National League East showdown. The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Phillies fought back thanks in large part to a Domonic Brown three-run home run. The Mets retook the lead before the Phillies tied it 5-5 in the sixth inning. It would remain 5-5 until the 14th inning when Reid Brignac won the game on a walk-off single ending the five hour and 23 minute affair that poured over into the early morning hours on May 31st.
No. 8 - Eagles Top Colts on Monday Night Football
The Eagles entered Week 2 coming off a 34-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 but didn't look good doing it. After taking a 3-0 lead, the Eagles went into the halftime locker rooms trailing 17-6 then 20-6 early in the third quarter. Philadelphia fought back to tie the game 20-20 at the end of the third quarter but the Colts pulled ahead 27-20 in the fourth. The Eagles managed to score 10 points in the final 3:25 including Cody Parkey's game-winning field goal as time expired.
No. 7 - Flyers Sweep Weekend Series From Penguins
The Flyers were getting hot down the stretch and running down a playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division. They faced a crucial home-and-home weekend series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers got a power play goal from Scott Hartnell and a shorthanded goal from Matt Read in the first eight and a half minutes of the first game before getting two more in the second to roll to a 4-0 victory on Saturday in Philadelphia.
On Sunday in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia scored the first three goals on the first period including two from Wayne Simmonds. The Penguins would score twice before the Flyers would respond and roll to a 4-3 victory.
No. 6 - Eagles Beat Giants on Black Sunday
Philadelphia welcomed the streaking New York Giants to Lincoln Financial Field in a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Eagles breaking out black on black jerseys. The Eagles sat at 4-1 while the 3-2 Giants had won three straight entering the game. It was total domination for the Eagles as they led 10-0 after the first quarter and 20-0 at halftime. They rolled to a 27-0 victory and their first shutout since December 1st, 1996.
