Anyways, the United Way ran a commercial last night that featured former Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha - the sight of which is nausea inducing to some Eagles fans. Unfortunately the description of Nnamdi Asmougha was "Philadelphia Eagles cornerback" instead of "San Francisco 49ers cornerback."
It seems like a small detail but Asomugha was released by the Eagles on March 12th - nearly seven months ago. Also, the commercial aired in Philadelphia and Asomugha brings up a lot of negative feedback so seeing him still tied to the Eagles didn't do the United Way any favors.
Asomugha was a colossal failure in Philadelphia. He came to the Eagles after spending eight years with the Oakland Raiders. He signed a five-year, $60 million deal in July 2011. He record three interceptions with 40 tackles in his first season in Philadelphia. Many believed that Asomugha underperformed in 2011 and would regain form in 2012 playing in press coverage. That was not to be as 2012 was a complete disaster for almost every Eagle. Asomugha had one interception and looked like he had lost all foot speed.
He is now a member of the San Francisco 49ers and, thankfully, out of Philadelphia.
