The Phillies website had an interesting transaction published stating starting pitcher A.J. Burnett has has elected free agency.
Last month it was reported Burnett was "more likely than not" to be back pitching in 2015. Back in August Burnett told reporters following one of his starts that he would "probably not" pitch in 2015.
Burnett, 37, went 8-18 with a 4.59 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP with one complete game in 34 starts for the Phillies. His 18 losses were a career-high surpassing his previous career-high of 15 losses set in 2010 with the Yankees. Burnett became the first Phillies pitcher to record 18 losses in a single season since Steve Carlton recorded 20 losses way back in 1973.
